Warum wir keine Dinge schützen, sondern Verläufe
In der traditionellen Ethik schützen wir Dinge: Personen, Tiere, vielleicht Kunstwerke. Die Pfadethik bricht mit dieser Tradition.
Was wir als 'Ding' wahrnehmen – einen Fluss, einen Baum, eine Institution – ist in Wirklichkeit ein stabilisierter Prozess. Ein Fluss ist nicht "der Fluss", sondern die kontinuierliche Bewegung von Wasser, die durch geologische Strukturen kanalisiert wird. Ein Baum ist nicht "der Baum", sondern ein autopoietisches System, das sich selbst erhält durch Photosynthese, Wurzelwachstum, Zellteilung.
Die Pfadethik fragt daher nicht: "Was ist das?" sondern "Wie geht es weiter?" Die moralische Relevanz liegt nicht in der Substanz, sondern in der Struktur des Fortgangs.
Why We Protect Processes, Not Things
In traditional ethics, we protect things: persons, animals, perhaps works of art. Path ethics breaks with this tradition.
What we perceive as a 'thing' – a river, a tree, an institution – is in reality a stabilized process. A river is not "the river", but the continuous movement of water channeled through geological structures. A tree is not "the tree", but an autopoietic system that maintains itself through photosynthesis, root growth, and cell division.
Path ethics therefore asks not: "What is it?" but "How does it continue?" Moral relevance lies not in substance, but in the structure of continuation.
